As a flower farmer who is deeply rooted in the rhythm of the land the seasons upon us bring hope. With out winter we wouldn't have our favorite spring flowers and with out the cold season this busy bee would never stop working. So as bitter sweet it is to see the flowers fade, a much needed break is needed for these tired farmers.
As the years have gone on and we have jumped in with both feet in to every thing we did, the 2026 season is gonna look a little different. We are going to start adjusting the farm to work around our life's instead our life's working around the farm. With All the being said some pretty huge shifts are going to take place soon and as we lock in the plan for the farm over the next couple months will be sure to keep everyone updated.

As the 2025 season comes to and end I have spend a great deal of time reflecting on what worked and what didn't work this year. In farming change is inevitable and lets face it I'm just the steward of this land and decisions that I have made didn't always work. I'm a firm believer everything is figure-outable so to the drawing board I went. One of the big obvious things that needed tweaking was our new parking situation. This was our first season with our new driveway and as amazing as it was the parking area was a little to narrow. So to make a little more room we have shortened up the rows giving about 15 more feet of space for parking and let the flow of traffic go more smoothly.
The second noticeable thing that needed to be addressed was the inconvenience of having to walk all the way around the long rows to get to the next. With that there will now be walkways half way through the rows to make it easier to access the garden easier.
The third major change to the flower field was a personal calling to downsize production and lean more towards creating landscape and enjoyable moments than just production rows. I have been toying with this idea for awhile now as I have been longing for the quaint feeling of my old garden. I have learned a big lesson that just because you have the space to expand doesn't mean that its the right thing to do. I feel so blessed to have such a large space to do whatever my creative mind comes up with but its also a very dangerous thing to have as a dreamer because there is no limit with what I can do. I have definitely learned through this process that more isn't always better and to scale back and intensive the plantings in to more of a landscape type planting. It has always been a goal of mine to have 90 percent perennials and only do 10 percent annuals and am on my way to achieving that goal. This will be my second year leaving in the majority of our dahlias and the less labor it takes to growing them has been such a blessing.
